Not back to school picnic - Non rentree 2018

We are staying with a friend for a few days for fun right now! The kids and I are having a lovely, relaxing time. The boy's Dad and I agreed that home education works better for us so we are back to our regular home education but in France. I am as excited about it as the kids are. It suits us better with all the travelling we do and the kids both have interests they want to follow which they cannot do at school. 

We attended the Not back to school picnic, it was all with French parents and their kids and it was the best thing we could have done on our first day. The boys hit it off with the other kids straight away over Pokemon cards and the Mums made good connections. I hope this is the start of some little groups for the kids to see each other regularly and develop their interests and language skills. 

Back home that evening, the kids had dinner with their friends... we have adventures in Northern Europe planned for this Autumn... watch this space...

Camping and play dates

We have had a lot of time camping out this Summer and enjoying our farm with the doggies. 

We've been on day trips out... Thiviers...

My Aunty Barbara came to visit us for a week and visited so many places including the church and chateau in Rochechouart. 

We went back to Cassinomagus... 

 We went for the most amazing meal at Under the Lime Tree and Nikki showed us the moon and Jupiter through her telescope.. 

We all did lots of walking..

 We visited the Village Gauloise with friends.. more ateliers and weaponry displays. Miles bought a piece of nickel and had it stamped into a coin.

We have played monopoly a few times. 

 ... and just spent some lovely time together. 

We have had countless BBQs

 Relaxed with the family. 

Countless playgrounds and play dates...

We were invited to a neighbour's party which had two amazing cakes.. Miles was first in line. Nom nom!

Jan made a great raft for the kids to play with on our lake.. it works, the kids loved it! 

Cassinomagus and seeing Daddy King in Bordeaux

Cassinomagus is a local Roman baths which is beautifully preserved and offers a lot of education. In the Summer, they have an open 'go back in time' day for families with a show in the evening.

There were craftsmen at the Cassinomagus open day who were making shoes, carving wood, smelting metal and making coins.. showing us weaponry, it was fabulous! 

 There is the opportunity to do mini-archaeology, there is a giant chequers board!

Then the battle commenced... 

A note-worthy laughing fit!

We went to the evening spectacle after a brief break at our friend's house for dinner. It was quite odd, eerie and beautiful. Men with turbans sporting inflatable white horses which grew from their chests. The men made the horses dance to beautiful music with exciting lights being used to create the show. 

We have visited Chasseneuil cinema a lot this Summer, French and English films are shown and we have enjoyed both. There is the tribute to the resistance in Chasseneuil and we took a look... 

It is majestic and a real honour to those that fought in the resistance. 

We have been camping! 

Then the boys went to Bordeaux to be dropped off to Daddy King for their two weeks at the King family villa in Spain, with their cousins and Aunty, Uncle and Grandad! They were sooo excited! 

Daddy King and I took them to the famous water feature on the water front at Bordeaux! Pretty cool! 

 Miles is besotted with his Dad.
