Poland - Wroclaw and Krakow - Interrailing 2016

Getting a tram in Berlin....

Mucking about on the tram...

At Der Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) with breakfast!

Waiting for the connecting train To Poznan and then on to Wroclaw, Poland.
We sat in a carriage with a slightly off-puttingly but sweet (read annoying) friendly Polish guy! Who wouldn't stop talking...

We can't read the sign so we must have crossed the border into Poland...

Lots and lots of countryside like this... In fact Poland by train is very beautiful, full of forests..

We arrived in Wroclaw.... I had been before so I showed the kids the city gnomes... you can follow a gnome train all around the city centre, there are lots of them all over the place, you can even get a map and tick them off as you find them.   We popped into Frankies more than once, the exchange rate on euros and pounds was great at the time so fresh daily (hourly ;) ) juices were really affordable. The kids enjoyed this city! Plus the WiFi was fast!

I took them to Poland's biggest indoor swimming pool and water park - Aqualand - it was ace! We spent a whole afternoon there. Obviously no photos but there are rapids, slides of all kinds, a watery giant pirate ship, wave pool and all kinds of entertaining things... Then we went back to Wroclaw centre.

The next day was rainy, we set off to walk to the train station for Krakow. The train station is called Glowny (pronounced phonetically something like Hoven-Y ... All Polish people reading this, my apologies!)

We went to their favourite shop, Tiger - Caden bought this... it has brought hours of entertainment.

Train to Krakow. Not as scary as the train to Poznan where when we arrived, all the signs were in Polish and we had about 10 minutes to get to our next platform for the connecting train. The platforms were all being refurbished and had all moved, I was panicking and the kids were upset.. It was a horrible 10 minutes, luckily a kind Polish lady saw me panicking and directed me to the train for Wroclaw. About 10 seconds after we stepped up onto the train, it left the Platform... that was a close one!

We arrived in Krakow and the boys shared a smoothie! We had planned to get the sleeper train to Prague that night so we were only in Krakow for the afternoon! Busy busy!

Krakow is a really beautiful place. I would like to go back one day! We didn't have enough time except to walk around and we were already quite tired. The centre is gorgeous, the old buildings and architecture. There is a castle with a legend about a dragon but sadly we didn't go in, in fact the boys werent that interested at the time. We were looking for a vegan restaurant and we followed a couple of false trails to find the restaurants closed... It was Vegan day or something and I was going to show the boys what that was all about..

The castle with the dragon!

In the end the kids got fed up and tired (and so did I) I carried the tired Miles on my shoulders for a bit..

Then we reached the McFuck It stage, went back to the centre and bought some junk food! We were too tired to do much more... I think Miles is falling asleep into his burger here..

We had popped into the Disney store (ugh McDonalds AND Disney in one blog entry - argh!) they both were into Minecraft at the time and these little things were in the reduced basket so I got them one each. They were very happy with Cowie and Creepy

On the way back to the Glowny, we walked through this fabulous art installation of photographs from around the world. It was wonderful! We were so lucky to chance on it!

Morocco 2023

Morocco was Miles' 13th birthday present. We were excited as it was our first trip to Africa.  We found an amazing restaurant for Mile...
