Update.

Wow! It's been a month since I posted. We have been so busy. I have made some big decisions about our lives lately. We decided to buy a narrow boat for a cost-effective, temporary adventure. Caden has been asking me for about two years to live on a boat, ever since he saw his friend's bunk bed with a porthole next to it and watched the ducks sailing by. Needless to say Caden and Miles are utterly delighted with the decision. They squealed happily the whole time they visited the boat. They both got on their bunks and lay down. They are going to love it. We plan on staying around Milton Keynes until we get a house to live in.
Their home education has been hard to maintain with the house move and the divorce coming to a close. Emotionally this has been a hard time for me. Whatever the circumstances, ending a marriage brings a lot of intense feelings and I am sure the kids have been affected by this.
We have mostly visited parks, Caden has become an expert on minecraft. Miles has his own iPad now too which was a big financial outlay but necessary as they both fought over the one we have had and I am going away for three weeks at the end of October, so I would like to know he has his own tablet and isn't shoved out of it by his brother. Caden loves Miles' iPad mini now and keeps nabbing it - sigh!
Education has been sporadic. Each day we talk about and learn things. It mostly suits their interests. Miles has really grown up into a boy, from his toddlerhood lately. He is doing some adding up now and enjoys singing along to songs in the car. He is exceptionally gifted with people, almost every child of his own age that he meets, loves him. Miles is very popular. Caden continues to do well in maths, reads independently off his own steam these days (as long as I don't make him) he enjoys reading to Miles, who loves to listen in return. Caden has blossomed this year from a fairly withdrawn child to a confident and capable boy. He keeps telling me he is shy though. I don't know why, he is very confident when he feels comfortable.
Miles loves to help me out, he is always happy to be involved. Caden likes to do things on his own or with his close friends. He has been drawing pictures lots for friends and family and asking a lot how words are spelled. Today was water (he was writing a warning sign for some water in his minecraft world), other days are other words. Spelling is just coming naturally as a progression from reading and wanting to write. It is great to see that happen.
We continue to look up lots of things on the web. Today we talked about jellyfish again, Caden asked what classification they were. He learned there are degrees of classification, phylum and so on. We looked up the phylum and found out how to pronounce cnidarians. He remembered it later in the car when I couldn't haha. He loved that they were named after nettles and some jellyfish are called the nettles of the sea. There are moments like this all the time but it is impossible to record them all. Needless to say, they are doing well and making progress.
Home Ed will continue as normal once we are on board our boat 'Tinkerbell'. All are welcome to visit who know us.
Next Monday we have tickets for the Primary Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. I'm looking forward to it. They have both listened to lots of classical music in the past so I am hoping they will enjoy this. I hope the weather is nice so we can visit the museums or Princess of Wales memorial playground and make a happy day of it. We need a relaxed day together.

Morocco 2023

Morocco was Miles' 13th birthday present. We were excited as it was our first trip to Africa.  We found an amazing restaurant for Mile...
