Amsterdam and a little tour of Holland!

We went to visit some family in Holland and decided to visit Amsterdam while we were in the area... En route... Caden shows how delighted he is at having a chocolate tool to eat from Bruges!

I want to ride my bicycle... I want to ride my biiike....

In Amsterdam, Miles appreciates the street sculptures.

We enjoyed walking around the streets of The Dam, soaking up the atmosphere and chatting.. especially the old town, my personal favourite. It's very beautiful and so peaceful!

We considered going into the Anne Frank museum as we had read some of the book and watched an English film adaptation on You Tube but we saw the queue and the kids said No!

Miles attempts to break the world record for largest cheese eaten in one go!

Maybe he needs to try a smaller size?

We had green juices each!

We were staying at one point in Southern Holland near the hospital where my Father in Law was recovering (part of the reason for our visit) and the place we stayed at had the MOST amazing playground, one of the best i've seen. The whole stay was made worthwhile by this playground and woodland which we went mushroom hunting around.

Miles helped me to identify mushrooms!

We were staying near the Belgian enclaves but we were still suprised to see American helicopters... 'It's a chinook, Mum' said Caden.

I had to take this to make Jan jealous... we ate a LOAD of kibbeling... it's de beste!

We are a bit jumbled up, this is the boys outside Anne Frank's house.

A Cow Museum! Complete with Cow face!

Duckies. Amsterdam is ace for this... just Window shopping fun!

The kids wanted to go back to Ripley's again but when we got there and saw the entrance fee, we (I) opted for other choices, since we have already been two years before.

Jan and Miles looking cool in Utrecht! We went all over the place together!

We saw some great figures at Utrecht cinema!

These are some of the mushrooms we found on our nature walk at the place we stayed....

Fly agaric... et al.

Middlekerke, Bruges and the Dali Museum

We stayed at Middelkerke, right on the beach. The beach is amazing...it goes on forever. Miles collected lots of interesting rocks and arranged them nicely on the bedside table.

There were several good play areas on the beach... it was a really nice experience to go on the swings, facing the sea.

We saw migrating birds.

Leftover pizza breakfast!

In Bruges... we visited a beautiful and spectacular church. We particularly liked the stained glass windows.

There were some eerie sculptures, with kids it's not possible to read all the information in peace so I wasn't able to find out why there were lots of human skulls everywhere but it was notable and kind of cool! Spooky!

When in Bruges.... eat chocolate and waffles! and coffee for me! It was very good coffee! Miles was pretty pleased with his strawberry waffle and Caden loved the chocolate stirrer for his hot chocolate.

Lots of mad running about in a square, letting off steam in the sun! Also they knocked open a hose pipe... which Mum had to chase around and get soaked, connecting back together as the water was still flowing! They had lots and lots of fun!

The sweets and chocolate, they were allowed to choose a piece of chocolate each.

Caden chose a 'tool'. We walked around more markets and squares and found the Dali museum. I've been before but it was a first for the kids.

Errr... OK Dali... ;)

Had to add Caden's faces behind my back.

Miles thought that the odd drawings were funny!

Caden was pretty taken with some of them, he can spot an obvious Dali now.

More chocolate.

Riverboats, tourists and chocolate.

The car was pretty stuffed with things from England to take back to France!!

Morocco 2023

Morocco was Miles' 13th birthday present. We were excited as it was our first trip to Africa.  We found an amazing restaurant for Mile...
