Forest School - Sous Bois

Those whose know me won't have to try hard to imagine my delight to discover there is a Forest School here! Run by Ruth Cox and called Sous Bois (under the woods).

I drove off with all four kids and following another car full of friends and their kids to enjoy this day out.

When we finally arrived, we found a perfect setting, the sun was warm and bright, there were hammocks, seating around an unlit campfire, a bell tent, a mud kitchen and fallen climbing trees. All sorts for the children to explore.

Miles monopolised the hammock immediately!

Just such an awesome campfire.

Caden received a children's opinel knift for his birthday from me and he has been whittling sticks all over the place. It was only natural that he would want to do that here as well :)

The fab mud kitchen!

Bella making a mud pie soup thingy!

Marc and Miles were the ones who got stuck into the mud kitchen! They really launched right in there - they are the perfect age for this.

We had a picnic lunch!

And then more play...

Some of the grown ups went off to listen to a talk about Permaculture and the children went to play racing games with Ruth in the fields! We could hear them screaming and having fun from across the fields.

A tasty mud pie!

Mud cubes!

Although this was just a taster session which Ruth and Catherine very kindly organised for us very last minute. It was well worth it. The kids had a blast and although I cannot make it weekly on a Friday because of the drive and schooling complications, we are going to set up a small version of this in our own woods for the kids to enjoy in their free time.
