Kite making

We received our starter 'weekend boxes'. They are pretty good. A letter sized box with various activities inside. Something to make (food), something to craft (kites), a couple of activities (map making and others) and some reading, colouring and a certificate at the end of it.

The boys chose to make the kites first. It was pretty cool. We drew kite templates onto tesco carrier bags and cut the kite shape out. Then we taped drinking straws in a cross from edge to edge. Then string, wrapped around a peg and wound up to where it was tied on the straw cross. They were so excited.

This is Caden trimming the edges off the straws to tidy up his kite.

Then the kites were finished. They were very pleased.

I think the kites needed to be a bit bigger to actually fly :) but they loved running about the car park with the kites billowing about behind them.
