Not back to school!

Well, it is that time of year again and once again, we are not back to school. We haven't posted up our photos of uniforms, though I did consider posting our not back to school photos. Since they watched TV most of the day because I was helping to get the house decorated and organised and back to normal following the flood last week, there wouldn't have been much of a photo.

There are some good things to report with them both this year. Caden has started drum lessons. His first lesson went well, he enjoyed it and he has done a little bit of practising. He is doing them fortnightly as they are quite pricey and he is still little anyway. Getting him to practise is already proving challenging but that might be because of the flood and the house being in a state right now.

Miles started football, I wasn't very impressed with the lesson so we won't be going back. It was more like a playgroup based around a football. I liked that it was just play but I think I can take him to the park for that with his ball and save my fiver.

They have both started French lessons and it is a surprise massive hit! We have been practising their colours all week, they both memorised the words really quickly and liked the teacher and the set up. I am so encouraged by this.

We have so, so many days out planned for history, science, art and all sorts over the next 6 weeks before I go travelling for 3 weeks.

Also Caden starts scouts soon and trampolining begins again too which he used to love. Let's hope both are a hit. I would particularly like scouts to work for him, but it is up to him of course.

Milesy has expressed strong interests in learning the trumpet. I have made enquiries but the teacher thinks he is far too young. I will get him into an instrument of his choice and encourage that when the time is right. I am hoping to get him to a few brass band recitals. If he likes it then we can continue with that. Christmas is coming so maybe there will be a few opportunities at that time.

Sports wise - Caden is really getting into cycling now. Every chance he gets to cycle he will And he loves to show off his skills like cycling standing up. I think he won't know what has hit him when he gets a proper bike with gears for Xmas, there will be no stopping him.  We are going for a 10 mile round trip tomorrow. He will be shattered! Miles enjoys his team and solo sports but he is still too young yet at 3 to be getting into it. I might try him with a cricket club in a year or two, if it's not too pricey.

In other news we are going to the not back to school picnic tomorrow and Caden will be doing a 10-12 mile round cycle trip which is mostly on the flat or gradual hill. I'd better allow a lot of time. I think he can do it though.
