Exploding Volcanos

Today was more science experiments. It was a bit windy for exploding rockets but we just about managed the volcano experiment.

I got the ingredients ready. Volcano, spoon, bicarb, vinegar and sand for effect.

We took them outside, I filled the volcano with neat vinegar.

They made the 'island' of sand and water and rocks from the patio.

Then I quickly poured in the tsp of bicarb and screwed the lid on.

We had a magma explosion!!!

A stream of magma but the top didn't quite explode off...

Then the pressure eased a bit

and we had a major lava flow.... awesome!!!

Good thing it was an uninhabited island...
