Two weeks of flu!

Oh the flu..... it has been so horrid! Full. On. Flu! Yeuch!

Miles helped with the housework when I was at my worst.... ;)

Some of the things we have done in the last two weeks include....

Caden began Forest School which was a HIT! Hooray! He loves being outdoors but it was only made possible really because a good friend, known well by him was allowed to stay with her older children at Forest School and she stayed with him, this made a huge difference. He announced that his name would be Caden Crocodile and then I left him to it and took Miles to Wendover Woods for a play in the mud, leaves and in the playground, we had a lovely bit of me and Miles time together alone that we so rarely have.

When we got back Caden announced 'I LOVE IT!' and told me about the world's biggest earthworm that he had found there. It apparently was a killer worm with razor sharp teeth that was carnivorous and ate other worms.. I wonder if he got his wires crossed a little :D He also made a wooden whip with string and stick and they found some old victorian glass medicine bottles that were buried in the soil. All very interesting and exciting.  Sadly no photos of this day but next week they are doing fire pits and marshmallows/toasties and crafting things out of wood. He is very excited about this and Miles will play with his friend Meg for that 2.5 hours.

We dissected a crab. Caden wiggled its eyeballs... and we opened and closed its claws, looked at its mouth and talked about the fact that it has an exoskeleton and belongs to the crustacean classification.

We opened it up and found the dead man's fingers.... and removed them carefullly.

Then we ate it - it was lovely!

We visited their friends - here Meg and Miles are playing with animal figures together.

Caden and miles playing with action figures together.

Walking back to our car from our friend's house along the canal, talking about the mallard drakes and ducks.

At our weekly shop Caden showed me how this toy was meant to be played with by climbing all over it from the outside. It was nice to have some sun too!

We visited Rushmere woods, which is always wonderful. It was cold but as there was some sun we took a picnic out, our first picnic of the year. Here is Caden behind our water bottle.

Miles and his cheese wrap (current favourite).

Both the boys climbing trees!

Charging around in puddles with his sword.

We found some fungus growing out of a dead trunk.

Cuteness in the rhododendrons!

Poking around in the jagged edges of the tree stump, we found that the wood was all rotten and wet and talked about how it was going back into the earth to repeat the cycle of things that rot and are taken up by living things to make new life... etc.

Miles finds his own chunk of rotten wood. We noted that there were no bugs, probably too cold at the moment.

We visited a playground one day too when they needed to get outdoors.

Morocco 2023

Morocco was Miles' 13th birthday present. We were excited as it was our first trip to Africa.  We found an amazing restaurant for Mile...
